| An important
component
of
my
furniture is the use of hardwood native to Eastern
Virginia,
abundant on the Northern Neck. After
major storms
I have found oak,
cherry,
poplar, maple, walnut and beech, as well as a few
less
abundant species
uprooted from the winds.
My WoodMizer LT15
sawmill has
been
indispensable in my "from tree to
furniture"
philosophy of
woodworking. In these
photographs
you can see stacks of lumber
air drying, protected
by portable roofs, as well as the solar kiln I use to
dry the
lumber to the appropriate moisture content for my furniture. |
