    This box was built on commission using old chestnut wood that has great sentimental value to the family. It is intended to hold documents and other important items. A large box, the lid incorporates slats floating in mortises to break up its large expanse. Special interlocking closure guides fashioned from cherry wood double as mounts for the carved walnut handles. The box is finished with shellac polish to retain the natural colors of the chestnut, and quality solid brass hinges add a nice accent.
